Celebrating the cinematic arts means bolstering filmmakers, providing platforms to showcase new films, and creating positive networking environments.

Up-and-coming films are the lifeblood of the creative film industry, and they deserve to be celebrated. At the annual Prince George’s Film Festival, those opportunities abound.

Presented by the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council and the Prince George’s Film Office, in partnership with Bowie State University and Experience Prince George’s, the festival highlights the work of up-and-coming and established independent filmmakers. It is dedicated to showcasing the best cinema in the region — and you can be part of the epic event. Over four days, from September 26–29, the film community will come together for panel discussions, film screenings, student programs, and creative workshops. You’ll get to bolster your own filmmaking skills, check out screenings from local creatives, and build a supportive network of filmmakers and film lovers.

To ensure everyone in the region can participate, the festival will take place across Prince George’s, from Largo to National Harbor to Bowie — and the schedule is packed with opportunities for growth and discovery.

On Thursday, September 26, an opening reception will kick off at Prince George’s Community College, including a special film screening with an opening-night selection.

On Friday, September 27, there will be panel discussions, workshops, in-person screenings of short films, a filmmaker Q&A session, and a filmmaker networking reception. Head to the Prince George’s Community College’s Center for Performing Arts to join the fun.

On Saturday, September 28, there will be workshops, panel discussions, in-person screenings of homegrown films that aren’t in the competition, and in-person screenings of animated films — all at the Fine & Performing Arts Center at Bowie State.

On Sunday, September 29, MGM National Harbor will host a closing reception brunch and awards ceremony in the Grand Ballroom.

Keep an eye on the website for the updated agenda of panels and workshops, which will be updated closer to the event date — and get your tickets now for this rousing four-day film festival.
